Raising funds and Awareness.

Hunks4Hope kicked off Domestic Violence Awareness Month on October 12th 2018 with their 5th annual Gala. This gala not only raised funds for our sister charities Milagros Day Worldwide and Casa Esperanza Para Mujeres Y Niñas, but showcased our NYC based DV partner organizations. The theme of the gala was resource building. We want to always make sure that our audience is linked with life saving resources to help end domestic violence.
Highlights
The 5th annual Hunks4Hope Gala was a momentous occasion signifying a need for change in the way we handle survivors of abuse. The festivities were kicked off by a prayer by Minister Eshe Killian. Followed by a an important message from Hunks4Hope Founder Lila Green. Rolanda Telesford from the YWCA explained the need for resources such as the YWCA Brooklyn and how important it is to communities like Brooklyn especially for DV survivors and non profits.
Hosted by media bad boy Rebel KI of The King Indeed, our guests enjoyed the sounds of DJ Good Vibes and watched a live Runway Show by J-Creations. Later in the evening we heard from our Keynote Speaker Meryland Canela-Cuevas and our Hunks. Guests enjoyed the beautiful ambiance and decor sponsored by Umoja Event Planners . The stage was set with the word Hunks spelled out in balloon lettering by our long time sponsor She.Productions.  Food was sponsored by Panera Bread and Colony 274. Our desert table was beautifully created by the very talented Serenity Sweets.

Special Thanks

Special thanks to our proud Purple and Silver Sponsor and Guest Speaker, Jackie Melendez of Women Networking Worldwide. Here she is pictured with two of our Hunks, RJ Harper winner of the Hunks4Hope Model Advocate of the Year Award and the spectacular Steven Rodriguez.

Congratulations

Meryland Canela-Cuevas was the recipient of the Hunks4Hope Advocate of the Year Award.  She told her compelling story about her narrow escape from her abuser with the help of Hunks4Hope and other organizations. Meryland continued to advocate for Domestic Violence survivors even while going through her own process of homelessness and rebuilding her life. Meryland is a true survivor in every definition of the word.
