About Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles
The nonprofit, which grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses, has granted nearly 10,000 wishes for children in Los Angeles County since its inception in 1983. This year marks Make-A-Wish Greater LA’s 35th anniversary year.
Nickelodeon accepted the Power of a Wish Award for granting hundreds of wishes for children with critical illnesses through its many shows, studios, characters and talented stars.
Now in its 39th year, Nickelodeon is the number-one entertainment brand for kids. It has built a diverse, global business by putting kids first in everything it does. The company includes television programming and production in the United States and around the world, plus consumer products, digital, recreation, books and feature films. Nickelodeon’s U.S. television network is seen in more than 90 million households and has been the number-one-rated kids’ basic cable network for 22 consecutive years.
Nickelodeon was honored by Make-A-Wish for its deep commitment to granting unique, heartfelt and magical wishes for children with critical illnesses. Wishes have included attending "The Kids Choice Awards", meeting SpongeBob SquarePants, visiting the set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, drawing with Nickelodeon animators and meeting the cast of "Drake & Josh", among many more.

Multifaceted entertainer Nick Cannon, who has been a long time wish granter, hosted the evening’s event. Cannon has entertained audiences across film, television, music, onstage and online for nearly 20 years. Cannon debuted on television as a series regular and writer on Nickelodeon’s long-running hit series, "All That", which made him the youngest staff writer in television history. Always at the cutting edge of entertainment, he leads a highly successful multi-media company NCredible Entertainment. Under this banner, he produces numerous TV and film projects, including Nickelodeon’s "Make It Pop" and "React To That". Most recently, Cannon’s affiliation with the kids brand extended to include hosting duties on Nickelodeon’s "Lip Sync Battle Shorties", a spinoff of Spike’s Emmy-nominated global phenomenon, "Lip Sync Battle", as well as "Drop That Seat", a new short from digital series and TeenNick’s Fresh Artist.
Cannon is also known as a passionate philanthropist who dedicates his time, resources and voice to giving back to those in need. He has granted wishes on the set of "All That" as well as "America’s Got Talent".
In 2007, OneRepublic, founded by lead singer Ryan Tedder and lead guitarist Zach Filkins, released their debut album, "Dreaming Out Loud". Its lead single, "Apologize" was notably remixed by Timbaland, becoming a huge international success, reaching number one in sixteen countries, and subsequently earning the group a Grammy Award nomination. Their second single, "Stop and Stare" mirrored its predecessor's success. The album was later certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The band's second album, "Waking Up" (2009), produced the successful singles, "All the Right Moves", "Secrets", "Marchin On", and "Good Life", the latter reaching the top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100. OneRepublic's third album, "Native", released in 2013, became the band's first top ten album on the Billboard 200, and highest charting album to date, landing at number four. The lead single, "If I Lose Myself" charted within the top ten in several countries, while single, "Counting Stars" became an instant success, obtaining top five placements in Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, the U.S. and the UK, and peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, matching their highest peak of "Apologize" in 2007. OneRepublic’s highly anticipated fourth album “Oh My My” released on October 7, 2016 and debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 – the band’s highest charting debut yet. Ryan Tedder calls it their “ultimate playlist,” including singles “Wherever I Go,” “Kids” and “Let’s Hurt Tonight.”

Boyz II Men remains one of the most truly iconic R&B groups in music history. The band has penned and performed some of the most celebrated classics of the past two decades. The group’s 4 Grammy Awards are just the tip of the iceberg: throughout their 25-year career, Boyz II Men have also won a whopping 9 American Music Awards, 9 Soul Train Awards, 3 Billboard Awards, and a 2011 MOBO Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well and a Casino Entertainment Award for their acclaimed residency at the Mirage Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, which has been ongoing since 2013. Boyz II Men’s past hits include: “End of the Road,” “I’ll Make Love to You,” “One Sweet Day,” “Motownphilly” and many others. Although Boyz II Men continues to tour across the country and around the globe, performing a mix of their latest tracks and treasured classics, the group currently has a residency at famed Las Vegas venue The Mirage through the end of 2018.
Boyz II Men have made R&B accessible to the masses and have helped the genre come into its own—and fans throughout the world flock to see them perform at sold out shows. Fans were wowed in the summer of 2014 when Boyz II Men headed out on the hotly-anticipated Package Tour with New Kids on the Block and 98 Degrees.
